Born in Denmark but spending summer holidays in Sweden as a child, I feel Skåne is just as much where my roots are. Östergård has become my home in May 2008 when I found this historic farm, which happens to bear my family name. My husband and I moved to Illstorp from New York City where I was the Executive Director of the Rainforest Foundation, a charity started up by Sting, the famous rock star and his wife Trudie Styler. The work of preserving the rainforests and securing respect for human rights is still very important to me, as is the important issue of climate change.

I feel fortunate to have met people who are totally dedicated to solving these issues such as Al Gore (see picture below), Davi Kopenawa of the Yanomami indians (see picture above), Nelson Mandela, Sting (see picture below), Angaangaq of Greenland and many others. Please check my links to see what they are doing, join them, support their work or simply feel inspired to start your own projects.
So now my home is Österlen, but I have lived and worked in many places all over the world, and after so much travel I know how important it is to find a home away from home. With this in mind I have turned Östergård into such a place. We strive to deliver quality services of the highest standard while making a conscious effort to preserve our environment whenever we can.
We serve guests a breakfast that is prepared with the best locally produced ingredients, organic to the extent possible. Rooms are decorated and furnished with a keen sense for quality and aesthetics.
